Northeast Boundary Tunnel – Completion of the NEBT in 2023 will fulfill new facility construction on the Anacostia River required by DC Water’s Consent Decree. Once the NEBT is connected to the other Clean Rivers tunnels, combined sewer overflows to the Anacostia River will be reduced by 98 percent.

Lead pipe replacement – Like most older cities, homes built before the 1980’s were typically built with a lead service line—the pipe that connects the city water supply to your household plumbing. DC Water operates several programs for lead service line replacement. The programs are either initiated by DC Water or by the customer. Private Security Rebate Program – administered by the Office of Victim Services and Justice Grants (OVSJG), creates a rebate for residents, businesses, nonprofits, and religious institutions to purchase and install security camera systems on their property and register them with the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). This program is intended to deter crime and assist law enforcement with investigations.

Harry Thomas Recreation Center – The Harry Thomas Sr. Recreation Center is in the midst of Ward 5. The site has an outdoor pool that attracts the whole community. Outside is a beautiful field with a track and one of the nation’s best playgrounds, along with basketball and tennis courts.
